Arts Council England Reveals Further Round Of Culture Grants

NTS, Peckham's CLF Art Cafe, Salford's The White Hotel and more are among another 589 organisations to be awarded financial support

Arts Council England has revealed another wave of Culture Recovery Fund grants to support UK venues and organisations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coming off the back of last week’s announcement, which saw £257 million shared between 1,385 organisations, another 589 organisations have now been awarded grants of under £1 million to help them through the next six months. Just under £77 million of grants was awarded this time round.

Among the recipients of funds in this week’s round are organisations such as NTS Radio, Boiler Room and Leeds’ MAP Charity, and venues such as London’s CLF Art Cafe (housing Bussey Building and Rye Wax) and The Jazz Cafe); Salford’s The White Hotel; and Liverpool’s Camp & Furnace. You can find the full list of recipients to date here.

A number of music venues have been denied funding however, with figures from London clubs such as Printworks, Oval Space and The Pickle Factory all recently expressing their disappointment at not receiving potentially business-saving funds.

"We are keen, alongside hundreds of unsuccessful businesses, to understand the criteria with which some of these decisions have been made," Michael Kill, CEO of the Night Time Industries Association, said. "And gain an understanding of when and if there will be further support for the sector through cultural funding, as we are losing important businesses and people every day."

tQ received emergency funding from Arts Council England earlier this year to support us through the early months of the pandemic.
