Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. Massive AttackProtection

I’ve chosen this album because I’ve always had an interest in dance music, reggae, dub and all those sorts of styles, and Massive Attack bring all those elements together. But I’ve also chosen it for its inventiveness which is something that strikes a chord with me. It feels like Massive Attack are reinventing music with this record. It really displays the art of sampling and how sampling can surpass the original source.

Being in a Massive Attack-like outfit is definitely on my bucket list, and it has been for a number of years. There are fine vocal contributions on this album too that give it that added personality to the great songs that are there.
