Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

9. Alice ColtraneWorld Galaxy

This is my favourite Alice Coltrane album, I keep going back to it. There’s so much emotion in there. So much rock and roll music is about sex, and this has got nothing to do with me being religious or not, but hearing deep devotion and someone expressing their love of God is really powerful, so beautiful. The first track is the most bonkers version of ‘My Favorite Things’, what is going on?! There’s tapes winding back and forward, it’s quite anarchic and bizarre. Like Robbie Basho, her heart’s right out there, it’s really pure and honest.
