13. Jonny NashPoint Of Entry

It’s got echoes of Vini Reilly, it’s a very rich sounding record and mainly instrumental. There are a few vocals on it, but again the kind of vocals that I really like where it’s more about the sound of the vocal and you can barely hear what the actual lyrics are. It’s kind of just setting a tone in this very rich landscape of guitar and lots of effects. It’s a kind of atmosphere that pervades the whole thing and goes across the whole record. It almost sounds like a 1970s Ibiza record or something, although I don’t know if that was on his mind at all as I think he’s based in Holland, and it also has echoes of the Old West, wide open spaces, dub, spiritual jazz… And just the quality of the guitar playing is very delicate. In the same way as the Talk Talk record, it feels like it could almost break apart at any point. It’s a nice one to have on vinyl and stick it on in the corner of the living room. Let it do its thing.
