LISTEN: King Buzzo – Instrument Of God

First spin of track from the Melvins' frontman's forthcoming acoustic solo album This Machine Kills Artists

Buzz Osborne has mellowed in his old age. As the release date of the Melvins frontman’s debut solo, acoustic-only record draws nearer (June 3), King Buzzo has given tQ an exclusive taste of what’s to come in ‘Instrument Of God’, which you can hear above.

Long-term Melvins freaks need not fret, though, for although he’s getting naked sonically, so to speak, Buzzo hasn’t gone all mushy, as he explains himself: "I have no interest in sounding like a crappy version of James Taylor or a half-assed version of Woody Guthrie, which is what happens when almost every rock and roller straps on an acoustic guitar. No thanks… This Machine Kills Artists is a different kind of animal."

Osborne also kicks off a mammoth tour of the U.S. on June 10, details of which can be gleaned here.
