Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

I love what L.I.E.S. have done. On one level the music industry is fucked up and it’s so hard, but it’s been really good for the whole DIY scene. L.I.E.S. is a very well-curated label. I’ve just been in Paris and you can see the whole young energy of these kids, 40,000 of them coming out to underground techno events. As a lover of techno, that’s a very healthy thing. All those kids are selling their DFA records to buy L.I.E.S. records. For someone who’s been flying that flag for a long time, that switch is nice. I don’t really know anything about Svengalisghost – he’s one of their recurring artists who has always delivered. ‘Mars Out Of Range’ was a big one for me when I played at the Panorama Bar. It’s got this broken electronic beat, it’s kind of shuffling but with a really strong top line.
