Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. VapourspaceThemes From Vapourspace

This was another discovery from the guy I was making music with whilst at university in Newcastle. Mark Gage (Vapourspace) had a fairly short time in the spotlight, but has had a long-lasting influence on me. Themes From Vapourspace unfolds as an almost continuous piece of music across the course of the album and takes in techno, ambient and IDM. Mark is one of the few musicians that I obsessively collect every album, track and remix by. I contacted him a while ago asking if he had any unreleased tracks from this era for a retrospective release on Perc Trax but he did not seem keen. I can understand this and respect his position, no one wants to look back on what they were doing twenty years ago and have it sold as new music.
