Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

4. Aphex TwinSelected Ambient Works 85-92

This was the soundtrack to my early ’90s and was instrumental in awakening me to electronic music and so, perhaps, to the birth of Lamb. I suppose it was a discovery of electronic music with a heart – something I didn’t realise existed until this. Hearing this album I’m back in my tree-house-like flat in a coach house in Manchester’s West Didsbury, the vinyl spinning and my ears opening to a whole new musical world.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Objekt, Neil Halstead, Bat for Lashes, Dinos Chapman
