Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

Telefon Tel Aviv I saw the first show back after a long period too – I saw them at the Roundhouse, and they didn’t play anything from the albums that were out, you know, 15-20 years ago, it was a really a great experience.

When did you discover them?

A lot of the time when I was finding artists, I would immediately go to last.fm, to find similar artists and then a bunch more similar artists. I think I probably found Telefon Tel Aviv through that, or through recommended YouTube videos.

Do you feel like lots of your music discovery has happened online?

Yeah, I mean, a lot of my friends don’t and weren’t listening to the stuff I was listening to, but I liked going on a dive, you know? I had a little piece of paper and would write notes of what I’d found and what I needed to remember to check out.

Do you keep notes like that now?

No, I’m really bad at keeping up.
