Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. Anna Von HausswolffThe Miraculous

Anna Von Hausswolff is this tiny person, like really mini, but she’s just got this huge, powerful voice that I think is quite disarming. In 2017, we did an opening concert at the Birmingham Town Hall, which has got this incredible, huge historic organ that is two storeys high. Anna Von Hausswolff has made albums using organs, so we invited her to do the opening concert.

It was an incredible spectacle, but the big organ matched the big sound that she was able to create, so it felt again like that sort of sense of place, a very unique moment. You don’t want things to just be a spectacle, you want it to also sound good as well. It’s been great to be able to invite her back and then play within the festival with a full band. Who knows what will happen in the future. I can imagine that there could be more creative projects.
