Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

10. Leo SayerThe Very Best Of Leo Sayer

Exactly why Leo Sayer is kicking the lamp in his bedsit I haven’t the faintest idea, but before you dismiss him as a hooligan with a big perm, notice that his door’s upside down and so is his coat! It’s a topsy-turvy world little Leo inhabits, and his fabulous music can turn your world upside down too – but in a nice way. ‘Moonlighting’, ‘You Make Me Feel Like Dancing’ and his first and perhaps most enduring song ‘I Won’t Let The Show Go On’ all feature on this fab record. But hang on – what about the amazing duet he performed with yours truly on my radio show Radio Shuttleworth called ‘Dandelion And Burdock’ ? Isn’t that Leo’s finest pop moment? Yes, I would say it is actually. Thanks again, Leo. Lovely to meet you – but please don’t damage your electrical appliances in future!
