Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. Jozef Van WissemOnly Lovers Left Alive OST

Now we have another vampire movie, and I am a massive Tilda Swinton fan! I think the soundtrack stands alone for this film. If you hear some of the songs, you will hear something very similar to what Popol Vuh do and that works with the exotic kind of nature of the film. They are very ancient beings, and they live all over the place and they have shot this in part in Morocco. And so you have all these influences with it.

Jim Jarmusch’s band SQURL are great here, and they perform a lot of the soundtrack and that really enhances the film. But again, you do not really need to even see the film to enjoy this album. And Jozef Van Wissem makes this work even more eclectic. It is actually how I got exposed to some of that work from this film, and it is something that has really stuck with me. I listen to it all the time while I am driving around, and it has become my favourite driving thing.
