She’s one of the finest female vocalists of her time. It was probably in the early 80s that I started listening to her. There’s a timbre to her vocal that you just don’t hear in other vocalists. Also, her timing is so much her own. Very different from the timings of other vocalists. She has a whole rhythm to what she does that is very refreshing and very original.
