Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

10. Air – Talkie Walkie

I find Air to be more of a love band than a sex band. Romantic, not seductive… for before it gets dirty. Sonically it’s very warm sounding, very inviting. The drums have this 70s muffled drum tone, nothing is brash or abrasive, all the songs roll, they come in waves. I liked Air before this, I came across them through the Virgin Suicides soundtrack, which had the song Playground Love, another saxophone one that I love. But the Talkie Walkie record is another of those where I like the whole thing, no skipping.
