8. Fleetwood MacTusk
Fleetwood Mac are like The Beatles for me. Tusk is interesting because of the amount of money that they had to make that record and what they chose to do. They hired a marching band for the title track and recorded it, figured out how to make it sound good, that’s insane! Lindsey Buckingham is a producer that I’m very inspired by, I love his attention to detail and the way he stacks his vocals and all his arrangements are really far out. On this record specifically, I love the drum sounds, this mixture of hi fi and home recording, it’s as if he uses a shoe box on a couple tracks and they’re layered in a way that’s really psychedelic. I had a Tusk era, where I listened to it every day for seven months, now maybe I revisit it once every three months, but every time I do it’s still refreshing and I still hear something new or in a different way
tQ: If you had Fleetwood Mac’s money, would you go as all-out as they did? Would you hire a marching band?
Yeah! I would! I’d like to record a song underwater, it’s as silly as hiring a marching band! I wonder what would it sound like?
