Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

12. David BowieThe Platinum Collection

He’s got some good ones hasn’t he? On his albums there’s normally one song you really know and the rest is weird or not commercial at all. But I like the way he worked. He’d go in to whereever he was making his albums, and make the most out of what was happening around him. I could be wrong but that’s the feeling I get with him. Amazing things, the different voices and everything. He wasn’t afraid to move on which is brilliant. And with this collection, he’s got some good early ones, but I like the ones he described as his least favourite at one point. Like ‘Fashion’ and ‘Let’s Dance’. It took me a while to get into them, but I think they’re brilliant. I think they’re amazing. I stopped listening to him for a bit because it became overkill.
