6. Round The Town: Following Grandfather’s Footsteps – A Night at the London Music Hall

Going back a little further, this is a four-disc set of music hall. Again it’s chronological, and comes with a hardback book, beautifully done, informative and often very funny. Music hall is crazily underappreciated in Britain – my American pal Johan Kugelberg has called it "the British blues" and I think he’s right. Johan put me on to Champagne Charlie, the ultimate music hall film! Anyway, if you want to dip your toe in, try ‘Things Are Worse In Russia’ by Sam Mayo.
