Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

Slightly indulgent because I had something to do with it. But I just think William Reid is basically a fucking genius, an amazing, amazing guitarist. If you’d never got Psychocandy, you’d never have got The Stone Roses, and you’d never have got Oasis, and even now bands cite The Jesus And Mary Chain as a big influence. Jim Reid was just born to be a rock & roll star, and Douglas Hart still is a fucking rock & roll star. I met him when I was doing my book launch up in Manchester and he’s still a big hunk of a man, he looks like a film star. I know it’s a bit indulgent, but that album’s got to be in there.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Neil Halstead, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Peter Strickland
