Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. The DoorsStrange Days

This one contains all my favourite Doors songs: ‘People Are Strange’, ‘When The Music’s Over’, ‘Strange Days’. One of those albums where you know the next song before it’s begun. The blend of jazz and Eastern influences in the more experimental parts reminds me of Ege Bamyasi by Can. Ray Manzarek was an amazing keyboardist. He is why I still go back and listen to this album, even after over-listening to it for many years.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Echo & The Bunnymen, Elias Rønnenfelt, , John Garcia
