Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

2. Arvo PärtTabula Rasa

This is music beyond cynicism. Deeply beautiful in a way that to me sounds almost spiritual, like ‘Cantus In Memory Of Benjamin Britten’. Pärt believes music should be universal, for everybody, an important and beautiful intention which I think reveals itself not just in Pärt’s music but in so much other music, when you are willing to be open for it.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Simon Fisher Turner, Jarboe, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Mick Harvey
