Fela Kuti’s ‘Roforofo Fight’ To Be Reissued For 50th Anniversary

Alongside the full album, the reissue will include the singles 'Shenshema' and 'Ariya' on vinyl for the first time

Fela Kuti’s 1972 album Roforofo Fight is to be reissued by Partisan Records this August.

Marking the album’s 50th anniversary, the reissue will include the full album alongside standalone singles ‘Shenshema’ and ‘Ariya’, which appear on vinyl for the first time. The former, which you can listen to above, has also been released digitally for the first time as part of the reissue.

Music Of Fela: Roforofo Fight was originally released in two instalments on the vinyl albums Music Of Fela Volume One and Music Of Fela Volume Two. Its release in 1972 came at a time that Kuti was rapidly becoming one of the most followed musicians in West Africa. The album’s reissue follows on from the release late last year of a box set by Partisan which included seven of Kuti’s albums.

Partisan Records will release Roforofo Fight: 50th Anniversary Edition on August 19, 2022.
