Nils Frahm Details New Album, ‘Music For Animals’

It's his first studio LP since 2018

Nils Frahm has a new album on the way.

Music For Animals is Frahm’s first studio album of all new material since 2018’s All Melody and follows on from last year’s double album of archive piano tracks, Old Friends New Friends. The new album, which is comprised of 10 tracks and clock in at over three hours long, was recorded between 2020 and 2022 at Frahm’s studio in Berlin’s Funkhaus complex, and sees him move away from using the piano. You can listen to lead track ‘Right Right Right’ above.

Speaking about the new record in a statement, Frahm said: "My constant inspiration was something as mesmerising as watching a great waterfall or the leaves on a tree in a storm. It’s good we have symphonies and music where there’s a development, but a waterfall doesn’t need an Act 1, 2, 3, then an outcome, and nor do the leaves on a tree in a storm. Some people like watching the leaves rustle and the branches move. This record is for them."

LEITER will release Music For Animals on September 23, 2022.
