Diamanda Galás Details ‘The Divine Punishment’ Reissue

It's the next instalment in her ongoing series of album reissues

Diamanda Galás is reissuing her 1986 album The Divine Punishment.

Out in June, the reissue – which will be available digitally and on CD, and later on vinyl – is the third instalment in a series of remastered reissues that Galás has embarked on of her albums. The reissue campaign began in 2020 with 1982 debut The Litanies Of Satan, and was followed last year with 1984’s Diamanda Galás.

The Divine Punishment was Galás’ first album for Mute after signing to the label shortly before. It formed the first part of the artist’s Masque Of The Red Death trilogy of records, and was produced in response to the AIDS epidemic. You can listen to remastered album cut ‘This Is The Law Of The Plague’ above.

Intravenal Sound Operations will release The Divine Punishment on June 10, 2022.
