The Portuguese festival will welcome the likes of Nik Void and Laurel Halo this October

Portugal's Semibreve festival has revealed the first wave of acts playing its eleventh edition later this year.

The Braga festival, which celebrated its tenth anniversary with a digital edition last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will host a number of exclusive specially commissioned performances, including a number of one-off live collaborations.

Laurel Halo and Oliver Coates will combine for their first on-stage collaborative performance, while Nik Void and Klara Lewis will also link-up with visual backing from Pedro Maia. Harpist Zeena Parkins will team up with Portuguese multidisciplinary artist André Gonçalves, and Rabih Beaini will perform alongside Portuguese harpists Angélica Salvi and Eleonor Picas.

Other exclusive performances to Semibreve will include American composer Yvette Janine Jackson presenting a work for electronics and cello to be performed live by Judith Hamman, and Flora Yin-Wong debuting a new multichannel electronic piece.

This year's edition of the festival will take place in full compliance with Portuguese COVID-19 rules, with capacities for each event limited. They will be increased if local health protocols allow for this to happen safely.

Semibreve will take place from October 28 to 31, 2021. Find more information here.
