It's opening on the site formerly occupied by The Ballroom, O2 Academy and The Hummingbird

A new 3,500-capacity venue in opening in Birmingham.

Run by Global Venues, Forum Birmingham will be housed on the site formerly occupied by The Ballroom, O2 Academy and The Hummingbird, which has all been unused since 2013. It's hoped that the venue will be able to open later this year, in line with the relaxation of social distancing measures in the UK.

Forum has been fitted with a new wooden-sprung dance floor, D&B audiotechnik soundsystem, and high-standard lights and visuals provided by DMX Productions. The venue will work with big promoters such as AEG, as well as various smaller, local promoters.

"Prior to the pandemic, 250,000 in the West Midlands worked in the culture, media and night-time industries and the relaunch of this historic venue in Birmingham will help to refuel this damaged part of our local economy," says Global Venues' Billy Chauhan. "We're also extremely passionate about preserving Birmingham's musical heritage."

The venue's first line-ups will be revealed later this month. Head here to find out more.
