Juliana Barwick – The Magic Place
She is one of my closest friends here in L.A and we have collaborated a bunch.  After hearing The Magic Place I wrote her an email and said if you ever want to play with a harpist, I would love to have a jam some time and she wrote me back. She came to Philly to play a show and we've been tight ever since. I love the one-woman choir, the predicting thing she does when she makes a loop, she has to psychically predict how the loops will sound on top of other loops if you know what I mean, it's like an instinct. I'm moving on to loop based music now and I'm pretty influenced by that idea. I want to fill out the sound and be a one-woman choir.

Barwick creates that same ethereal atmosphere with her voice as you do with your harp, using it almost as an instrument. I know that church choir inspired her to make music in that way, is there anything spiritual that inspires your music?

I don't think so, not spiritual or religious. Nature can be spiritual too. It's memory mostly and remembrances of strange times and even false memories, the way that things can get more romanticised through time.
