I remember very clearly being at the flea market in Berlin, and our record dealer had a carry case record collection selling mostly singles. I remember buying Throbbing Gristle and The Normal actually, both singles. And I thought, 'oh wow, this is cool, this is the way music should be!' I was vastly bored with punk rock’s development, with the Sex Pistols blaming EMI for everything - I thought, "you're signed to a fucking major, what do you expect?" That was not really going anywhere. So Throbbing Gristle was a really important influence in the 80s for me. I went to see a lot of concerts. I had to pick just one album, so perhaps the best one, and the easiest to digest too, is 20 Jazz Funk Greats
