Marianne Faithfull - Kissin Time
I love Marianne Faithfull. Just hearing her deliver, when she’s snarling…she’s so triumphant, has so much dignity.

I know Kissin Time’s not her most recent, but I felt like it was important for her to come out with a new record at the time. I felt like it was important to hear all of the tracks off of her new album.

There are all these other artists that produced and wrote on that album - Beck, Jarvis Cocker, Billy Corgan and a bunch of others. It reminds me of the old days, when people would sing each other's songs - and that camaraderie, and musicianship, is what I feel has been lacking in the modern history of music. I don’t know of a record since then that has a bunch of friends writing songs on it for someone… it’s not existent, anymore, at all. I think SIA, she writes songs for super duper people, right, but it’s not like Rihanna singing a song that Beyoncé wrote, that artistry, like in the old days, with Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells, everybody in jazz, Blues, even in classical music - Chopin played by Rachmaninov or whatever - you know what I mean, it’s just gone. I think hip hop is probably the most perfect reflection of that sort of camaraderie that’s left.
