RIP Leonard Cohen

Musician, poet and writer passes at age of 82

Leonard Cohen has died aged 82.

A post on his official Facebook page has confirmed the news, reading: "We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries." His latest album, You Want It Darker, was released last month.

Cohen recently reflected on his age and health in a profile by New Yorker where he said: "I am ready to die. I hope it’s not too uncomfortable." Cohen’s first album, Songs Of Leonard Cohen, was released in 1967 after he was discovered by Columbia talent scout John H. Hammond, who also signed Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, earlier the same year.

The statement announcing his death further reads: "A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief."
