Young And Wild (Marialy Rivas, 2012)
I heard about this Chilean film in the Sundance 2012 selection. It was among the first of many contemporary films with teenage girls narrating their sexual awakening from their point of view. It's a bit like Lolita has been given a voice of her own. As I've said before, we had a huge gap, and now that women are given more and more chances to freely talk about their sex lives without feeling dirty or sluts, this gap is being quickly filled with tons of fresh, innovative films. What's interesting aboutYoung and Wild is that it's primarily based on a blog, the protagonist's blog, who happens to indeed have an ultra-conservative religious family in real life and fully supported the film. I also loved the aesthetics, especially the graphics in the credits.
