The Haxan Cloak & HEALTH Collaborating

Bobby Krlic: "They're just a monstrously heavy and weird band and I think this new record is going to cement that for them even further"

While talking to The Haxan Cloak’s Bobby Krlic for his Kevin "The Bug" Martin-requested metal Baker’s Dozen, just published today, tQ gleaned a few interesting insights into what Krlic’s got on the cards at the moment. Following his sterling job on The Body’s I Shall Die Here, Krlic will next be turning his hand to the new album by L.A. noise-wielders HEALTH. It’ll be their third, following 2009’s Get Color, and their latest work, a contribution to last year’s Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack; listen to ‘High Pressure Dave’ at the foot of the piece. Not only that, but he’s also producing another band and working with a film score composer, but was staying resolutely shtum about their identity.

Says Krlic: "I’ve been producing records for a couple of bands. I’ve been helping out HEALTH with their new record. HEALTH are massively underrated. I don’t know what people think of HEALTH but maybe they think they’re just trendy dudes just trying out noise music. I think they have the wrong kind of image for some people – it’s a clothing issue maybe. But if you see them live… they’re just a monstrously heavy and weird band and I think this new record is going to cement that for them even further. I don’t know when it’s coming out but I know it’s been a long process. I can’t say who the other band is. Also I’ve just started to score some films, which I can’t tell you what they are unfortunately but I’ve been working with a composer who’s an idol of mine so it’s a really big deal for me."
