Icelandic singer-songwriter Emilíana Torrini is back with a new album, her sixth, Tookah, out on Rough Trade next week, September 9.
The album sees her reunited with Dan Carey, the prolific London producer, a long-term collaborative partnership which fielded one of our tracks of the year, ‘I Go Out’, recorded with Steve Mason and TOY and released through his Speedy Wunderground 7" label.
Torrini recently gave us her 13 favourite albums, telling us, among other things, about bumping into Nick Cave decked out in natty pink golf threads and of, Smog’s Bill Callahan, "I really hope that he’s the one who creates my memories" – read her Baker’s Dozen here – and now we’ve got the first spin of the record in full.
Have a listen to Tookah below, and in the meantime, pre-order the album through Rough Trade’s website, and check out her tour dates, culminating in a November 15 show at London’s Heaven, over at her site.
