LISTEN: Laibach – ‘Under The Iron Sky’

Listen to a track from industrial pop group's soundtrack to cosmic Nazi sci-fi, plus more tour dates and album news

As we previously reported, ace industrial pop group Laibach have recorded the soundtrack to Iron Sky, the enjoyably daft sci-fi/comedy vehicle based around the premise that the Nazi leaders fled to the moon after World War II, preparing to stage a comeback. The soundtrack is set for release on 30th April through Mute but in advance of its release we’re very pleased to be able to offer you a stream of one of its tracks, ‘Under The Iron Sky’. Listen via the embed below.

As well as releasing the Iron Sky soundtrack, Mute also have another Laibach release up their sleeves. Set for release in May, An Introduction To… Laibach / Reproduction Prohibited is billed as "neither a best of nor a greatest hits". Instead it will include some of the band’s best known cover versions with two rare tracks: a cover of The Normal’s ‘Warm Leatherette’ under the name ‘Warme Lederhaut’ and a version of Dylan’s ‘Ballad Of A Thin Man’.

We also previously reported, with great glee and excitement, that Laibach were set to play a London show in the very appropriate surrounds of the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall next week (14th April). That show is now sold out, but the band are also playing two more UK dates around the release of the Iron Sky soundtrack, where they will be playing tracks from that album and also An Introduction To…. Tour dates are as follows:

APRIL

11th – Birmingham, HMV Institute

12th – Manchester, Academy

14th – London, Tate Modern (sold out)

Finally, there is also talk of the band working on a box-set for release later this year. More news on that when we have it, and more info in general at the Laibach website. You can preorder the digital version of the Iron Sky soundtrack here.
