Nick Cave has revealed that he and Warren Ellis are working on a live film to accompany the recent release of their album Carnage.
Responding to a fan’s question about further plans for the album on his The Red Hand Files website, Cave revealed that director Andrew Dominick is working on the project with the duo, which will see them rework material from Carnage and Bad Seeds album Ghosteen for a live setting. Dominick previously worked with Cave on 2016 film One More Time With Feeling, which documentary the recording of the album Skeleton Tree, in the wake of Cave’s son Arthur’s tragic death.
In the response to the fan question, Cave said: "Five years have passed since Andrew made One More Time With Feeling. Much has changed. But some things haven’t. The world still turns, ever perilous, but containing its many joys. Music remains a balm. Friendships endure. This letter is fractured. I am so excited to perform."
Responding to another fan question about the intense period of recording that saw Carnage completed in just two and a half days, Cave said: "The main reason Warren and I went into the studio was not to make a record. I think, more than anything, we just wanted to spend some time together. It had been a long time since we had seen each other and we were eager to continue the musical conversation we’d been having all these years. So, we met at the studio, greeted each other, and began."
