Mark Leckey is the latest artist to contribute to Boomkat Editions’ Documenting Sound series.
The 40-minute In This Lingering Twilight Sparkle is the 10th volume in the series of tape and download releases. (The release of the ninth instalment is on hold for the time being.) It sees Leckey piecing together home recordings, spoken word and other material, including iMessage notifications and gothic horror, and was recorded at home by the Turner Prize-winning artist in May.
You can hear excerpts of the tape, and read a statement by Leckey accompanying the release, via Boomkat. All proceeds from the sale of the tape, which comes with an 8 panel-insert featuring original art by Leckey, will be donated to Arts Emergency.
In This Lingering Twilight Sparkle follows on from previous instalments in the Documenting Sound series from the likes of Sarah Davachi, Hieroglyphic Being and Heather Leigh. Boomkat Editions launched Documenting Sound in May to share music from a specially curated selection of artists that has been recorded at home or in the artists’ immediate surroundings during the COVID-19 lockdown.
In This Lingering Twilight Sparkle is out now via Boomkat Editions.
