Panasonic has announced a new Technics turntable, the SL-1000R, as part of a presentation at the CES tech show in Las Vegas.
The audiophile deck comes with a hefty price tag though at $20,000. It’s a direct drive turntable and takes the SP-10R, which was announced last year, as its foundation, while adding a high damping, S-shaped magnesium tonearm, featuring OFC internal wiring. Its total weight is just over 40kg and Panasonic claims the turntable has the world’s best signal to noise ratio.
The turntable follows the rebooting of Panasonic’s Technics arm with the more affordable SL-1200GR having been launched last year.
