Thurston Moore has announced a new solo album, entitled Rock n Roll Consciousness, set for release next month and above, you can watch the video for lead single ‘Smoke Of Dreams’.
Recorded with producer Paul Epworth in London, and then mixed by Randall Dunn in Seattle, the tracks were realised within the close-knit backing band Moore set up in 2014 and has toured with since, consisting of My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe, Chrome Hoof’s James Sedwards and Steve Shelley. They previously recorded another album together in the form of 2015’s The Best Day.
‘Smoke Of Dreams’ sees Moore contemplating a past New York City "where spirits informed artists seeking poems of beatitude and sonic prayers of joy and wild wonder". The album sees Moore exploring overtly positive themes of human connection and love, an antidote of sorts to the uncertain political climate in which we currently find ourselves.
Rock n Roll Consciousness consists of five tracks and will be released on April 28. The Thurston Moore band will begin touring in support of the album this spring. You can read our recent interview with Moore, about his plans for 2017 and his take on the current political climate, here.
