Maya Shenfeld Details New Album, ‘Under The Sun’

The record was partially made at one of the world's deepest marble quarries, in Portugal

Maya Shenfeld has signed to Thrill Jockey for the release of her next album, Under The Sun.

Spanning eight tracks, the record was composed and produced over the last two years between a studio in Berlin and one of the world’s deepest marble quarries, in Portugal. It explores "the looming threat of catastrophe and crisis, and the power of community and collaboration to enact change," according to a press release.

To mark the album’s announcement, Shenfeld has shared lead track ‘Interstellar’, which you can watch a video for above. The visual was shot in 2022 at the same marble quarries in Vila Vicosa, Portugal, where the album was partially made.

Thrill Jockey will release Under The Sun on February 23, 2024.
