Phonetics Festival Heads To Lisbon For Third Edition

DJ Lycox and DJ Danifox of Lisbon's Príncipe Discos label, and Ziúr, will play this year's edition of the event

Nomadic festival Phonetics is heading to Lisbon for its third edition this September.

Following up on previous events in Saint-Denis (2021) and Algiers (2019), the latest edition of the festival sees the Phonetics team collaborate with Lisbon collective and booking agency Filho Único, who have a long-standing connection with local label Príncipe Discogs. Naturally, the label’s DJ Lycox and DJ Danifox are on the bill for this year’s Phonetics, while there are also confirmed appearances lined up from Ziùr (pictured above), Stellar OM Source and Zaltan, among others.

Ahead of the main festival kicking off in September, this year’s Phonetic will be preceded by a two-week residency at Lisbon venue Mono, running from August 28 to September 8. As part of the

2022 French-Portuguese cultural season programme, the residency will see French and Portuguese artists come together to create a number of specially commissioned performances which will be presented in various unconventional Lisbon venues.

Among those taking part in the residency and getting together to work on new projects are DJ Lycox, Photonz and Lula Pena from Portugal, and NSDOS, Keumel, Epsilove and Terrine from France.

Phonetics will take place from September 8 to 11, 2022. Find more information here.
