1965 John Coltrane Live Performance To Get First Release

The performance of his 'A Love Supreme' album was recorded at Seattle jazz club The Penthouse

A live performance of John Coltrane’s 1965 album A Love Supreme album is set to be released for the first time this October.

A Love Supreme: Live In Seattle features a recording of a performance from Seattle jazz club The Penthouse that took place the same year as the album’s release. It features John Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders on saxophone, McCoy Tyner on piano, Elvin Jones on drums, and Jimmy Garrison and Donald Garrett on basses.

The recording was captured by saxophonist and educator Joe Brazil, and remained in his private collection for decades. You can listen to ‘A Love Supreme, Pt. IV – Psalm (Live)’ from the release above.

Impulse! / UMe will release A Love Supreme: Live In Seattle on October 8, 2021.
