Henry Cowell - Piano Music
A year or so ago I watched 2001 for the first time in years, which reminded me of the music of György Ligeti. This sent me down the rabbit hole of discovering the more experimental side of classical and electro-acoustic music again. I was already aware of Cage and some Stockhausen, but suddenly my ears were opened up to Cowell, David Tudor and Morton Subotnick. It was not a completely new world for me, but definitely something that I had not explored this deeply before. I'm not sure whether it has had an influence on my music recently. Maybe on the piano work of 'Ma' and 'Bitter Music', but I try to take in influences through the artist's attitude, rather than directly incorporating elements of their music into my own.
