Jean Genie: Five 2015 Festival Highlights
The Quietus , July 13th, 2015 14:05

In coordination with Levi's® unveiling a new range of customisation services this summer, we've put together our top five denim-clad festival performances of the year so far

In the Quietus' recent jaunts to festivals both in the UK and overseas, our eyes have been scalded with the sights of needless welly-wearing, plastic flower halos, ironic global hypercolour t-shirts, and more cultural appropriation than a Katy Perry music video. It would seem festival "fashion" is in need of a long overdue overhaul.

As it happens, Levi's have announced a new range of customisation services at The Levi's Tailor Shop, available in stores nationwide, which will include studding, personalised monograms and embroidered patches alongside existing tailoring services, so now you can forgo plastering your forehead with ignorance for a jacket studded with the Sunn O))) logo, or a pair of shorts covered in lyrics by The Fall.

Quietus editor Luke Turner, a keen double denim wearer in his youth, says, "As a Def Leppard and Guns & Roses loving teenager, I used to peruse the patch adverts in the back of Kerrang, wishing I was brave enough to sew charity shop Levis jacket. Alas I was too afraid of what both my mum and the hard lads at school would think."

To celebrate of all things denim, we've created a list of our top five denim-clad festival performances of the year so far:

5. Kanye West - Glastonbury

While not entirely visible in this image, Quietus news and new music editor Laurie Tuffrey reliably informs us Stephen O'Malley was wearing a dashing combination of denim waistcoat, jeans and red Cuban heels during KTL's recent performance in Barcelona.

1. Fat White Family - Glastonbury
