TOMORROW: John Doran At The Lexington

An English Trip comes to London, with an edition of Krautrock Karaoke

Quietus editor John Doran is approaching the midway point of his 31-date An English Trip book tour in promotion for Jolly Lad. Marking the occasion, you can catch Doran’s London show at The Lexington tomorrow, May 14, where he’ll read excerpts of his memoir alongside live accompaniment from Noise Maestro Kjetil Nernes of Arabrot.

Of course, there will be more to The Lexington show than your standard stories of black holes, ghosts, and bus timetables read over spooky Norwegian guitars. Rounding out the festivities will be dub poet, Techno Animal collaborator and King Midas Sound member Roger Robinson, who releases his new album Dis Side Ah Town on Jahtari Records the following day, Friday May 15. Krautrock Karaoke also makes its triumphant return, courtesy of Kenichi Iwasa of improvisatory trio Xaviers. He’ll be joined by some of the finest musicians in town, including Tim Cedar (Sex Swing), Sam Barton, Matt Colgate, and Jimmy Martin (Sea of Teath) and Mark O Pilkington. Expect run-throughs of tracks from Can, Faust, Neu! and the rest of the usual suspects. It’s sure to be a wonderful time. You can order tickets here.
