Gavin Russom Debuts Hail Of Arrows Video

Producer shares an 18-minute visual accompaniment to his new Hail Of Arrows project; watch it below

Last month, tQ brought you news of a new project from longtime DFA Records affiliate Gavin Russom. Recording as Hail Of Arrows, Russom announced the release of a new EP, also entitled Hail Of Arrows, in the form of a double cassette via Ecstatic Recordings. Now, we have the first look at a video, above, for the track ‘Forming Alliances Among Animals, Protecting The Land’, which Russom has produced to accompany the project.

Speaking when he announced the new concept, Russom said: "Conceptually, Hail Of Arrows was inspired by living in far uptown Manhattan (a wilder part of the city in many ways) and this item from the Parks Department about falcons resettling in the urban environment, especially atop the nearby George Washington Bridge. This idea gelled in my mind with the ideas most elegantly captured in the 1981 film Wolfen, and led me to create these four sonic visualisations." The video follows much of the same themes, visualising those birds of prey and their "reclamation of Manhattan Island". You can get a copy of the Hail Of Arrows double cassette here and have a listen to one of the EP’s four tracks, ‘Awakening In A Changed World, Exploring The Landscape, Knowing Freedom’, below.
