Gavin Russom debuts new project, recording as Hail Of Arrows; stream one of the tracks taken from the new release below

DFA Records affiliate Gavin Russom has debuted a new project, recording as Hail Of Arrows, and its first fruits will come in the form of a double cassette, out via Ecstatic. You can listen to the second of four tracks from the release, 'Awakening In A Changed World, Exploring The Landscape, Knowing Freedom', above.

Speaking about the project, Russom says: "Conceptually, Hail Of Arrows was inspired by living in far uptown Manhattan (a wilder part of the city in many ways) and this item from the Parks Department about falcons resettling in the urban environment, especially atop the nearby George Washington Bridge. This idea gelled in my mind with the ideas most elegantly captured in the 1981 film Wolfen, and led me to create these four sonic visualisations." Billed as "an uncompromising four-part synth drone odyssey about birds of prey reclaiming Manhattan Island and creating a civilisation in the leftover buildings and landscape, free from human interference", you can get your hands on one of those double cassettes here. You'll have to be quick though since it's limited to 100 copies.
