LISTEN: Grumbling Fur – Protogenesis

Another preview of forthcoming new album Glynnaestra

As we’ve reported before, Quietus favourites Daniel O’Sullivan and Alexander Tucker are back as the galactically-inspired Grumbling Fur and we’ve got a first spin of ‘Protogenesis’ from their new LP Glynnaestra, set to be released on July 22 via Thrill Jockey (pre-order the album here).

‘Protogenesis’ opens laden with a synth line that washes over a programmed beat, framing the duo’s echoing, ethereal vocals. As the track progresses, a warm, pulsating bass line emerges, with layer upon layer of instrumental sound placed atop, while the vocals freely fade in and latch onto time-warped melodies before getting subsumed in the closing distorted collision of sounds.

The duo are also playing a couple of live dates this month:

JULY

Sat 13 – Red Gallery @ East End Live Festival, London

Mon 22 – Rough Trade East, London
