Down with Love

Anytime you get too depressed about the current state of fashion or the current state of the movies, you can always lose yourself in the false but comforting notion that it was better before. There wasn’t really a time when all women dressed like Jacqueline Kennedy and all men sported a carefully folded pocket square and a delicately placed tie bar. There wasn’t really a time when all movies were smart, fun and grown-up, either. But Down with Love lies to us and tells us these times did exist. It’s too bad it’s right next to Deliver us from Eva on the shelf and we’re immediately reminded that contrived fluff has always been the stock and trade of both industries.
