Young Fathers Reveal New Album, ‘Heavy Heavy’

It's the trio's first full-length in almost five years

Young Fathers have a new album on the way.

Coming almost five years on from last full-length Cocoa Sugar, the 10-track Heavy Heavy sees the trio return to a "back-to-basics approach," according to press materials, which revolved around "just the three of them [working] in their basement studio, some equipment and microphones." To mark the album’s announcement, they’ve shared new track ‘I Saw’, which is the second cut to be unveiled from the record after ‘Geronimo’ came out earlier this year. You can watch a video for ‘I Saw’ above.

In a statement about the track, the band said: "It’s a big bully with shite down their leg, still swaggering. That pamphlet through your door blaming the establishment and immigrants for everything going wrong. The stench of long-dead empire, trudging along, a psychological hammer to your head in every step. The delusion."

Ninja Tune will release Heavy Heavy on February 3, 2023.
