Yasiin Bey, the musician, actor and activist formerly known as Mos Def, has confirmed his retirement from the stage in 2016 following approval from South Africa for him to leave the country in which he has been residing.
Bey will not be allowed to return to South Africa after leaving the country. He was arrested there in January after trying to leave the country on a ‘world passport’ and has been detained in the country since for apparently breaking immigration laws.
He will now return to the United States and play a series of shows in December in New York and Washington, DC. The shows will apparently span his entire career and are expected to be his last before his retirement from music and other similar endeavours.
