WATCH: New Xylouris White Video

Live video of drum and lute duo playing Psarandonis Syrto from next month's debut LP Goats

Xylouris White, a new two-piece combining George Xylouris, the hyper-prolific Cretan folk musician, and Jim White of the Dirty Three will release their debut album next month on Other Music Recording Co.. Before that, we’ve been given a first look at Jem Cohen’s video of the group playing album track ‘Psarandonis Syrto’ live at Union Pool in Brooklyn. Have a watch of that above.

The unpresuming clip showcases the pair’s refined craft in combining Cretan lute and drums. Xylouris and White initially met at the Nick Cave-curated ATP festival where they were both performing with Xylouris’ father, the celebrated singer and Cretan lyra player Psarantonis. Debut album Goats is out on October 13 and produced by Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto. They’ll be following that with some extensive touring: first of the US next month, before supporting Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy at two shows in St. John’s Church in Hackney on November 18 and 19, followed by a European tour in November. The dates for that are below, and head over to their website for updates.
